Versace has long been top of the tree when it comes to the fabulously luxurious, but now there is going to be a more affordable collaboration with high street chain H&M.
Despite saying a few years ago that she would NEVER cheapen herself and do a diffusion line, it appears the tangoed queen of fashion has had a change of heart.
She told New York Magazine once upon a time: “I respect everyone who does it. But the reason I didn’t do it is because I work very hard to put the Versace line in the luxury section. I think to put the Versace line in H&M would confuse the brand”. Looks like a complete turnaround here then!
When speaking of the announcement she said:”I am thrilled to be collaborating with H&M and to have the opportunity of reaching its wide audience,
“The collection will be quintessential Versace, perfect for H&M and Versace fans everywhere”.
Margareta van den Bosch, creative advisor at H&M, added: “Versace is one of the most important brands of recent times, and their collection for H&M will be glamorous and flamboyant – everything Versace stands for”.
The range will “take a look back at the heritage of the brand” so expect some iconic prints, leather, and lots and lots of colour!
The collection hits stores November 17 and is also going to be available online. It will contain 40 pieces for women, 20 for men and some accessories and homewear.
Versace has joined a long list of high-end designers including Lanvin, Karl Lagerfeld, Stella MCCartney and Jimmy Choo to name just a handful that have collaborated with the Swedish chain.
